A very warm welcome to our website, and whether you are a Freemason or not, I and my team trust that you will find the following information to be both interesting and informative. The Province of Murcia is one of eight Provinces that form the Grand Lodge of Spain. We cover an area ranging from Albacete in the north, to Mazarron in the south, at the top of the page you will find a link to the contact details.
Through this site our Murcian Masons will be kept up to date with what is occurring within the Province, and we hope the site will also provide other useful Masonic details.
If you are a visiting Mason and would like to attend one of our meetings whilst you are in Spain, you will be made very welcome, as long as you are in good standing with a Grand Lodge that is recognised by the Grand Lodge of Spain, and you can produce proof of your proficiency and standing.
Even if you are visiting Spain and you are not a Freemason, you will find at the top of this page a section dedicated to frequently asked questions about Freemasonry, and we invite you to ask any question you may have by contacting us.
A lot of our fundraising is based around social events involving Masons as well as their partners and friends. Most of the money we raise is donated to non-masonic charities and good causes. You will see that we play an active part in supporting local and national charities, demonstrating that our members are kind, caring and considerate to all, especially to those less fortunate than ourselves.
I hope if you are a non-mason that you may be encouraged to take a further interest into Freemasonry and learn more about our activities. Contact us for an informal chat, to learn more and discover what the fraternity of Freemasonry has to offer. We meet in five locations across the entire Province of Murcia, so a warm welcome and fraternal friendship awaits, and is never far from wherever you may be.
Whatever your level of interest we thank you for taking the time to visit our website and learn more about our activities. If you are interested in Masonry you can be sure that a warm welcome awaits you.
R.W.Bro Peter David Kent
Provincial Grand Master
The questions of when, how, why and where Freemasonry originated are still the subject of intense speculation. The general consensus amongst Masonic scholars is that it descends directly or indirectly from the organisation of operative stone masons who built the great cathedrals and castles of the middle ages.
Lodges within The Province
The Provincial Grand Lodge of Murcia was reformed on 5th December 2009, constitutionally part of the Grand Lodge of Spain, and currently consists of seven Regular Lodges which are Spanish or English speaking.
Charity is at the very heart of Freemasonry. All lodges within the province involve themselves in the local community and actively promote Freemasonry in the province. The Provincial Grand Lodge of Murcia administers many charitable funds.
Who are Freemasons?
Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest non-religious, non-political, fraternal and charitable organisations. Its roots lie in the traditions and ceremonies of the medieval stonemasons who built our cathedrals and castles. Some rituals are still celebrated today.
Freemasonry means different things to each individual – making new friends, contributing to society, celebrating a long tradition, experiencing personal growth, taking up a hobby, having fun.
